Psalm 103 is one of my favorites. Read it a few times today since we can't get to TN from NC.
Came through Gatlinburg last night, now enjoying the last of summer in WNC where there was hurricane damage but there's been a lot of clean up and get back to work spirit. Over 500 miles of road traveled TN/NC and only had to turn around once at still-down wires. That's amazing when you realize that most everything's been made passable by people very busy with back-to-school and otherwise keeping things normal even as the rumor mill has the world ending.
It's also amazing that the people in both TN and NC are dealing with each other kindly and mellow as everyone is working with so many moving parts to reach total restoration! All along rural routes and in interchanges people are full function-ahead. And no shortage of red, white, and blue as support for fellow Country people. It's been an amazing silver lining to shortage, in need of repair, and otherwise different because of the storm and because each state and department has a rigorous set of To Do.
And we're America so everything has to do with money! Or we'd be something else. As a place like Gatlinburg proves, places are built around making money. Place accommodates or doesn't or can't. Place is our Country so we're all working on tending place especially where us public is involved. I've been told before how exceptional the mountains are here because they have been tourist areas for so long! That the summer season is not quite over may be beneficial really. Definitely in a networking way.
Stay American about all of this and we can do this!
