Lighthouse AND boat

Would've been no need for lighthouses if we weren't also all boats.

A year after warring brought such major changes to life in the Middle East and here in the U.S. being so close to elections we're really in an overall state of, I think, repositioning.

A lot stays anchored.  I was thinking that in my prayers this morning.  For me, what I'm doing in life has to stay anchored in working with God.  I've come unmoored sometimes and like, got pulled in too many directions.  And sometimes life happens such that there's not much time for planning and development.  A lot of orgs have gone through that in times of money change.  So people re-ascesse.  We pull with, what we can.  Let go of some stuff.  Start from scratch sometimes.  One foot in front of the other.  Stop, drop, and roll.  Sleep.  Jump up and down.  All that.  We keep on keeping on!

At certain points in our-agers' lives we've realized we are a different size than "baby boomers".  So often when people come together in response and as support we touch base as small world and have you added skills and experience to your running lists?  Especially for our-agers when we've dealt with crisis and war there's a breath hold while the nation gets older kids into the ranks of service and the younger kids into groups and tracks.  It's like our whole population is merging into better and great.

I remember at one of the talks people were giving post9112001 it was a lot about finding place.  A multi-discipline person started by saying, as professionals we "stand on the shoulders of giants" as they say.  In the military especially people are always "falling in line".  And it's the same with food service!  On frontlines people are fighting for every inch; progress in disaster is the same way.

Be deliberate; be this, be that, the older people tell...probably what you should do.  That's a challenge to balance with fresh youthfulness.  One of my mentors suggested: work with your long-term in mind.  That helps apply short-term focus.  And then apply experience to opportunity down the road.  It's a risk to be/do what someone's told us, but it's also a risk to be doing things on our own.  And nation in America is always a blend of both!
