Before TV we didn't all know the same stuff. That would have upheld that framework where the masses were more separated from admin and military. Changes in technology and journalism dramatically altered that. But people still upheld rule of law including Constitutional law.
We can add in Church to the mix. Everything very established. Everything aligned. Everything hierarchical, patriarcal. Obedience came through the ages as part of living the Ten Commandments. There was dispute and challenge in leadership dictates, sometimes huge.
Changes in peoples' feelings also shift. Now we're at a point where there may be stark difference between feelings and performed duty.
In workplaces we used to have to get over ourselves and perform the boss is the boss. And even when it was awful the relationship equaled money equaled housing and food. Broadly we've seen changes to that...government as alternative source of...types of businesses...US economy in world...more equality of skills and business sense...
Political choice about patriotism got really loose in peace times and in time with social media, for example, allowing for the broadcast of just about any feeling. That adds to a sense of freedom-free-for-all.
That's all I've got for that one, Is it a choice? Maybe people should be encouraged to ask different kinds of questions? Any questions are okay. Shows we're thinking. Thinking not opposite compliance. Differences in education.
Difference in wars too.
